However, there are some restrictions that disqualify applicants:

• If you are currently registered as a student at a Mandarin Language Center or have sought a degree from a university or college in Taiwan, you cannot apply.
• Previous recipients of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship or the Taiwan Scholarship are ineligible.
• if you plan to be an exchange student in Taiwan during the scholarship period or receive financial benefits from the Taiwan government or another educational institution, you cannot apply.

Application Requirements: What Documents Do You Need?

To apply for the Huayu Scholarship, you’ll need to prepare the following documents and submit them to the Education Division, TECC in India:

1. Application Form: Complete the application form and include a recent photo. Download the form from the official Tecc website here – Visit site
2. Passport Copy: Provide a photocopy of your passport.
3. Academic Credentials: Include a photocopy of your highest academic credential and transcript.
4. Reference Letter: You’ll need one reference letter to support your application.
5. Language Proficiency Certificate: Submit a photocopy of your English/Mandarin/other language proficiency certificate, if applicable.
6. Additional Documents: Depending on the requirements set by TECC in India, you may need to submit additional documents.

Award Value and Duration: What to Expect

Successful applicants can look forward to the following benefits:

• A monthly stipend of 25,000 NTD (approximately 65,774 INR).

The duration of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship can vary:

• Scholarships may last for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year, depending on your preference and eligibility.
• It’s important to note that if recipients fail to enrol in Taiwan during the designated time, they will forfeit their scholarship.

The selection process involves a document review or personal interview. Preference is given to applicants with an IELTS score of 6.5 or above or a TOCFL certificate. In the event that a successful candidate declines the scholarship, the position will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

As a recipient of the Huayu Scholarship, you’ll be subject to the following terms and conditions:

• You must study at a registered Mandarin Language Center approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
• Adhere to the admission regulations of the center, and send a photocopy of your admission letter to the Education Division, TECC in India, before June 30th for confirmation.
• Commit to at least 15 hours of language courses each week in Taiwan, excluding cultural visits, speeches, and self-learning activities.
• You cannot transfer to another Mandarin Language Center once you’ve applied to one.
• Do not accept multiple scholarships; doing so will result in loss of placement in the program and the need to return funds received.
• Be aware that the scholarship can be terminated or revoked by the Mandarin Language Center if your academic performance, moral character, or attendance record falls below their standards.
• Recipients of scholarships lasting six months or longer must join the National Health Insurance Program, purchase student accident insurance, and any other relevant insurance.

Suspension and Cancellation: Follow the Rules

The scholarship can be suspended or revoked under certain circumstances:

• Missing 12 hours or more of language courses within a single month will result in a one-month suspension.
• Failing to achieve the specified standard score by the university for two consecutive semesters (quarters) will lead to disqualification.
• Violating R.O.C. (Taiwan) law will result in scholarship suspension or revocation.
• Any violations of university or Mandarin Language Center regulations can lead to suspension or revocation of the scholarship.
