How I scored 300/300 in HSK 3
Three steps to ace HSK 3.
.
This May I appeared for HSK level 3 exam and scored 300/300. Here are my 3 suggestions for preparing HSK Level 3 exam which may help students preparing for HSK 3.
The HSK level 3 consists of three parts: listening, reading and writing. The whole test contains 80 items, which lasts 90 minutes in total. The maximum score is 300, and pass score is 180.
1 . Vocabulary and grammar
The exam outline requires that you should master 600 words, so studying the HSK level 3 word list is a good choice. This word list is available online. As for the words, you should not only know their characters and meanings, but also the usage and the grammar structure. In the test, you have to be able to write one character that is missing in the sentence. There are in total five sentences, and pinyin is given for the missing character, so it might not be that difficult for you.
As for the grammar In our class we studied from the HSK Standard course book so I was thorough with the grammar patterns. At the end of every chapter there are 3-4 grammar patterns which I made a list of and kept revising time and again. For the vocabulary I spend 1-1.5hr daily to practice my hanzi .

2. Training Your Listening Skills
I was relatively confident about my listening skills but at the exam it turned out to be more difficult than I had expected. In general I watch a lot of Chinese dramas and listen to a lot of chinese songs due to which gradually my listening improved a lot while I was learning Chinese language . There were audio files provided by my laoshi related to every chapter as part of our homework which also helped my listening immensely. My advise would be to find more material to listen to in order to improve your Chinese. If you can understand 100% or close to it, then change to a more difficult level.

3. Practicing More
Practice is the key to score good marks. Sometimes due to the time limitation or due to nervousness people make mistakes in the paper despite knowing the correct answer. The only way to avoid this is to practice official mock and previous year papers with a timer running. At my institute we had weekly tests of HSK 3 with time limit which helped me to become familiar with the exam pattern and also to keep a tab on my progress.
Apart from that I always did my homework and workbook, revised HSK 3 book text and weekly worksheets, essay and notes which my teacher gave me.
Everyone has a different style of studying but following these steps helped me a lot in scoring well. I believe as long as a student aspiring to score good marks in HSK 3 follows these steps they too will find success
